Have you been on the internet? You have? Good. You must have therefore seen a picture of a cat or kitten doing something, with a caption either making a badly spelt statement or describing something that isn’t really happening but could. A popular one would follow the formula “I’m in your (Blank), (Blank)ing your (Blank)s”. Trust me on that one.

These wonderful images are called LOLcats. Really. And one of the biggest lists of LOLcat images is the wonderfully named I Can Has Cheezburger?, which among it’s collection consists my favorite variety: Invisibles. Observe:
Invisible Tightrope
Invisible Onion and Knife
Invisible Dining Chair
Invisible Pommel Horse
Invisible Everything
Invisible Motorcross

Other tasty nuggets of LOLcats include this one that just confuses me, and also this evil and brooding image…

Why am I suddenly reminded of the DVD for Cats & Dogs?

Many people yearn to travel to far off lands, in search of something new, something different to their own hum-drum surroundings that they were brought up in. This leads a few people to teach english in another country, in an attempt to make people there speak english better. An example of this sort of thing is Gaijin Smash.

Gaijin Smash is a blog about am American living in Japan as an english language teacher, helping out in schools, and generally trying to make the average Japanese child say the word “Lemon” without sounding like Scooby Doo. And that’s where the normal part finishes.

Sadly, what you see on TV clip shows such as Tarrant on TV or on Youtube (The crotch whack if you can’t say a tongue twister correctly video is an example) really does happen in the schools of Japan. Weirdness abounds, such as the Kancho, weird sexual perversions (yes, really), and oddness in society in general when a Gaijin (foreigner to Japan) does, well, anything at all really. Laughing at foreign oddities is still funny, especially when written in this style. That’s why Tucker Max got him on the Rudius network of sites.

I highly recommend reading it, especially if you too have thought about signing up to JET. Some of these things may make you think again.

A long time ago, when I first thought of doing a website, long before I started helping Justin with Gametactics, I read surfed around quite a few different geekish sites, trying to find where I fit into the whole of geekdom. Hardware related sites featured heavily, and one of these was The Tech Zone. I visited it every day, almost religiously. I loved it.

I’m not going to talk about that site, instead I’d rather talk about John Chow dot Com, the home of, err, John Chow.

John “Mogul” Chow runs The Tech Zone, but he also runs a successful blog, in which he documents about the latest and greatest in his life. This includes, and is not limited to: Cars and Fast Things, Food and Restaurants, Technology He Likes, and Making Money.
The Making Money aspect is the main draw to the site, since he’s been extremely adept at doing it. Seriously. He talks about the deals page on The Tech Zone being non-stop affiliations, Adsense effectiveness, Pay Per Post reviews, that AGLOCO thing that seems to be the same as AllAdvantage before that shut down, and generally anything that involves promoting the blog so more people see and click on the advertising. Heck, he’s even asked for reviews about the blog in return for a link back, which is a fantastic idea that I wish I’d thought of first.
He has a fantastic array of articles (such as the Portable Office which I paid homage to) and ideas to make your blog better/profitable, that he makes me jealous.

He’s even photographing the fancy food at the fancy restaurants that he goes to because he can afford it all. And that’s definite proof that what he’s doing works.

(And no, I’m not going to take photos of my food to put up here. Once you’ve seen one Domino’s Pizza, you’ve seen them all…)

Imagine that you are a man, and you want to learn about being a man. A Real Man. With a capital R. Sadly, your prudish girlfriend or significant other has decided that you shouldn’t be reading such wonders as FHM or Playboy, even if you do “Just for the articles”. She believes that the naked (or near enough) women, the silly sections that detail 101 alternative uses for bodily functions, and the monthly expense that you should be using on her, makes the magazines useless for normal people, so you are banned from looking through their pages again.

This in itself is a painful situation for many men today. Especially those whom are more interested in the informative reports and helpful guides that make manly living possible. For these poor, poor men, there is a solution: Dethroner.

Dethroner is, basically, a blog about being a Man. It’s a great blog that contains a wealth of useful information that you might actually need to know at some point in your life. Each week, your host Joel “Manly Real Man’s Man” Johnson and cohort Alex “Manly Real Man’s Man 2″ Colby dispense advice and useful snippets of information that you will find useful. It really is like the article bits from the Men’s magazines, except for the lack of female nudity (…It’s the Internet, so that’s not a problem).
Each week, a new theme is chosen, and almost all of the posts for that week are focused towards helping your unmanly existence better. Themes have since included Cooking, Fighting, Dogs, Meat and Buying Electronics, but the current theme of the week is Romance, since that Valentine’s Day thing is coming up.
Of course, if the main articles themselves aren’t your bag, the Asides section on the… err… side, gives you a good amount of random goodness to keep coming back for more.

Dethroner is an essential part of your manly life, and their tag-line rings true. It really is “Where Every Man is King”. Even if their FHM subscription gets cancelled…
