The last thing anyone wants is to lose a limb. If I lost my right hand, I’d have a pretty sad life ahead, and normal prosthetics don’t really make me any happier.
Cue engineering and bio-chemist teams working for a decade on a robotic hand that is light enough to be worn, responsive enough to be useful, and also gives feedback to the user.
That last point is important, given that it means whomever is wearing it knows how much pressure to apply to grip an item without suddenly crushing it.
