The Short Version: Zombies, Kick Ass, Milla Jovovich.
The Not So Short Version: Milla Jovovich Kicks Zombie Ass in a City.
The Slightly Longer Explanation of Resident Evil: Apocalypse Version: Milla Jovovich plays Alice, a superhuman woman that has bonded with the “T-Virus” at the genetic level, is woken up during a large scale viral outbreak in Racoon City. Tons of people die and turn into Zombies (Without using the Z Word) and Alice, along with some random people that she picks up along the way, rescue a child in an attempt to escape.
The film moves at a very reasonable pace with an abundance of action, so by at the end of the film, you’re almost sad it’s ended. You don’t need to watch the original film, play the games nor visit the Biohazard ride in Japan, since it works in it’s own right.
It’s also one of the few movies released that defeats the general rule film buffs have: Movies of Games Are Rubbish. Resident Evil: Apocalypse actually works the transition from game to film extremely well, but I believe that’s primarily because the games themselves are heavily based upon the horror movie format, so very little has to be changed for it to work on the big screen.
The “Why You Should Watch The DVD” Version: Milla Jovovich, Zombies, Kicking Ass!
